- Disney Formula in comic strip

I love the kid-directed Make comics, but I hope you aren't planning this kids section to follow the Disney religion of enforced multiethnicity with the white males as the evil incompetent butt of every joke.
The third time I see your little white male character as the butt of the joke like this issue, you'll receive my cancellation. It's serious.
Thanks

A little more research will go a long way, HowToons are made by a different source and whether or not you like the characters, they are the only comics of their kind for this community. So, until a multi-ethnical wooden stick figure become the popular butt of jokes, you'll just have to deal with it.Posted by mark4545 on July 01, 2005 at 18:01:12 Pacific Time

1. My money went to the publisher, as does my ire and notice.
2. No character needs to be the butt. Write better.Posted by NothingUnique on July 02, 2005 at 15:53:47 Pacific Time

It's sad that I have to agree on such a topic. It's just inappropriate writing. Don't change who the butt of the joke is; remove the joke.
It's inappropriate content.Posted by Lohman on August 15, 2005 at 14:05:21 Pacific Time
- Brains are cool

I loved the comic because it's brainier than a regular comic. It shows you how to create a little device to shoot marshmallows. I like to see smart kids in comics because it shows that brains are cool. Keep these comics coming.
I enjoy your magazine so much that I am buying a gift subscription for a friend.
Keep up the good work!Posted by MyTinyLab on July 21, 2005 at 05:39:11 Pacific Time

We made these with a 9-year old friend the other night, and they worked great! Pretty fun.Posted by terrie on August 04, 2005 at 13:42:00 Pacific Time
- Marshmellow Hero

I made PVC marshmellow guns for my two boys this weekend. At first, they had no idea what I was doing. After my 8 year-old saw the first mini-marshmellow fly out of the tube and smack the wall, he was hooked and so was his 5 year-old brother.
Thanks for helping me be a hero for $5.71 (cost for 2 guns).
My oldest slept with his gun last night and was amazed that when he woke up it smelled like marshmellows.
"Yup," I said, "I love the smell of marshmellows in the morning." The male bonding has begun. Thanks for the Make.Posted by BoboMan on August 15, 2005 at 13:02:46 Pacific Time

- Even more fun than I thought

I set up my miter saw with stop blocks, and made a half a dozen of these to take to my parents' house for a family dinner. Watching the kids pop each other was fun, but when one of my brothers reconfigured his to a "suicide" rig with the barrel pointing at his forehead, my other brother called out, "somebody get Dave some marshmallows before he changes his mind."
Of course, Dave was then morally obligated to shoot himself in the head with the rig.
Best fifteen bucks I've spent on family fun in ages. Twenty if you count two bags of "flavored" mini-marshmallows.
Of course, I would recommend going with a 4-inch or 5-inch tube for the breech. Most of us ended up swapping out the long barrel for the feed tube to avoid the handle bend.
And now I have to get more parts to make a batch for my nephew and his college room-mates.Posted by tommyp on September 13, 2006 at 08:37:02 Pacific Time

Not sure what you mean by swapping out the long barrel for the feed tube, or which part you're calling the breech -- can you explain?
Thanks!Posted by yambu on December 12, 2007 at 22:07:11 Pacific Time
