That blue film stuff is good for making PCBs... but not much better than printing out your design on a laser printer and ironing it on a clean copper board
Here's a good site with some details.

Also, if anyone has any ideas on what can be done with spent ferric chloride -- I'd like to know....

I have been told that in order to dispose of Ferric Chloride one must place steel or iron parts into the solution for a few days. Remove the metals and add washing soda (a detergent)and let it air dry. It can then be thrown away as a non-hazardous wastePosted by karelh on April 07, 2007 at 23:53:47 Pacific Time

Sure,
R1 1K ohm
R2 1M ohm ( variable )
R3 470 ohm
C1 1Uf
C2 .01 Uf
LED just about any type, the negative side usually has a little flat area in the plastic package. if you look into the LED you will see a little square attached to one lead and a little gold wire going into the tiny chip. The lead with the chip is usally negative and the wire lead is usually positive.

with these components it should oscillate around 1 per sec when the variable resister is at the maximum. The
output ( pin 3 ) can also be hooked up to a cheap speaker.Posted by andrew@argyle.org on May 31, 2005 at 20:06:09 Pacific Time
