Correction for page 116
The LED Throwies article on p. 116 lists the wrong size magnets to be used. The size of the magnet should be 1/2" diameter by 1/8" (not 1") thickness.

The article says this device uses CR2032 batteries.
The spec sheet can be found here: http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/battery/oem/images/pdf/Panasonic_Lithium_CR2032_CR2320.pdf
These batteries have a capacity of around 220mAh. At 20mA to drive an LED, the life expectancy should be around 11 hours. However, these batteries are designed to supply microamps. Shorting them through an LED reduces the capacity to about 80mA, or 4 hours of life, according to the spec sheet I linked.
Also at the prices cited in the magazine, these cost $1 each to build and you're supposed to "toss a bunch" what a joke. People can find better ways to amuse themselves than throw dollar bills away, you can toss 10 throwies or enjoy a movie for a couple of hours.Posted by Oracle1729 on May 17, 2006 at 00:18:24 Pacific Time

Um.. Hello! yes, have you ever MADE one of these throwies before, Oracle?
Because i just came home after 2 days out, and the throwies i threw on the pole when i left are STILL BURNING STRONG !
So.. unless you specifically Googled : "Worst possible CR2032 on the market", when you came up with that fact sheet, or you haven't made them right. Because this discussion is absolutely NOT TRUE !Posted by PostGhost on March 10, 2009 at 05:48:47 Pacific Time
