This assumes you have a bluetooth conection on your phone and your computer. If not, Google around for a cheap USB dongle for your computer. It will usualy be cheaper than the one use "custom phone to PC cord" for your one of a kind phone, though the resource I'm about to name recomends http://www.3gcables.com/ for buying oem cables. (some are about $15+s&h)
Next go to http://www.bitpim.org/ and see if your phone is suported by this awsome freeware.
Quote: "BitPim is a program that allows you to view and manipulate data on many CDMA phones from LG, Samsung, Sanyo and other manufacturers. This includes the PhoneBook, Calendar, WallPapers, RingTones (functionality varies by phone) and the Filesystem for most Qualcomm CDMA chipset based phones."
Avalible for the Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, Linux, & MacOS X 10.3+ platforms.
I own a LG VX8100. It allows me to do everything. It will also reformat mp3s on the fly to a lower bitrate and length for use as ringtones. I also can back up my entire phone's software. I'm thinking of seeing what happens if I load the image on my wife's LG VX8100...
So check out the site. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

This sounds really cool. I have Bluetooth on my phone, so I don't need to use this, but it sounds great for people with non-Bluetooth phones who don't want to pay rip-off prices for ringtones.Posted by markfrauenfelder on June 24, 2006 at 11:03:48 Pacific Time

Or you could just put the ringtone on the web and use your phone's browser to download it.Posted by anarchivist on June 09, 2006 at 10:07:33 Pacific Time
