- That elecro-mechanical timer

Was doing a repair to a GE clothes washer when I also discovered the electrical diagrams in the back cover panel. The same could also be found with dryers.

What I found helpful when I canibalized a dishwaser a few months ago was a chart hidden inside the door that mapped out the functions of each wash cycle. There were about a dozen color coded wires coming out of the thing and the chart told you when and how long they became hot for each cycle. I'm not sure if there's one of these charts in every dishwasher, but it might be worth taking the door apart to find out.
