  I think the boat in the second picture on page 41 is a different boat than the one in pictures 1 and 3. It doesn't have the Jet Ski handlebars, but instead a regular steering wheel. The second boat also has a platform or cover of some sort sticking out horizontally over the jet nozzle, not seen in the top picture. The hull shape looks different, too -- the boat in the top pic has a distinct chine, while the bottom one has a gentle curve from sides to bottom.
  
  I think there's another story here, too, BTW: the top boat seems to be on a bow-first launching trailer. I would love to see how that works.

  Absolutely right on all counts.
  I guess the layout folks cut+scrambled it a bit. That rearview should have a caption "another boat further down the beach" Hey editor!
  
  The trailers they use are a great design.
  The trailer tongue can be moved to either end of the trailer and the truck has ball hitches on front and rear bumpers.
  The boats get bounced out into the surf, and to land they run up the beach onto dry land. So they can launch and land in some fierce surf.
  
  Charlie claims the boat is faster and uses less fuel than the jetski did

  Thanks for confirming this. Thanks also for explaining the trailer setup. The hitch arrangement also explains why the one truck needs a snorkel. (But it doesn't explain why a guy in my neighborhood "needs" one on his luxury hummer ...)
