Correction for page 148
In the circuit diagram, the 8-pin DIP has the pins reversed on the right-hand side, which should read 8, 7, 6, 5 from top to bottom.

The circuit diagram on page 148 leaves much to be desired! But there is definitely an error in the pin numbering on the PIC chip. The left-hand side is OK, going 1, 2, 3, 4 reading from top to bottom. The right-hand side is incorrect -- it should read 8, 7, 6, 5 from top to bottom. There should also be an indication at the top of the PIC symbol showing the notch that represents the Pin 1 end.
Also, the central pin of the FETs is un-labelled (should be "G" for gate), and the FETs themselves have no type number listed (although the parts list shows that they are 2N7000). The plus signs on the electrolytic capacitors are ambiguous. It's not clear from the diagram that the PIC is viewed from the top, but the 78L05 and 2N7000 are (presumably) viewed from the bottom.
Sorry to have to point out so many issues with this circuit. It's just that a beginner might run into all sorts of troubles when following this diagram. I wouldn't like to see an enthusiastic beginner put off electronics due to difficulties arising from a poor circuit diagram!
