Oldie, but goodie- XboxMediaCenter is a free open source (GPL) multimedia player for the Xbox™ from Microsoft. Currently XboxMediaCenter can be used to play/view most popular video/audio/picture formats such as MPEG-1/2/4, DivX, XviD, MP3, AAC, JPG, GIF plus many more less known formats directly from a CD/DVD in Xbox DVD-ROM drive or of the Xbox harddrive, XBMC can also play files from a PC over a local network and even stream media streams directly from the internet. Sickest thing in my house. Hands down. Everyone i know has one now. And after the 360 drops the price of a used xbox to around $50, everyone’s gonna get one for christmas.
I’ve got 2 in my houes, bedroom and living room, and they all feed off of my media server thats got all my content centralized. THIS is how you do it up.
http://xbmc.blogspot.com for news on xbmc.
this link is sort of old. visit xbox-scene.org and learn from that. this link you have shows using evox dash (VERY OLD) and using a 1.5 or older xbox. you cant just buy that at target any more. anythgin you buy now is a 1.6/1.7 xbox and need a complient chip for that, which you must solder on or get a solderless adapter for. please dont buy a xbox and follow this guide you will get frustrated and waste a xbox.
also if you have a xbox there is a method called a TSOP hack that you can get data on from xbox-scene.org if your xbox is older then feb2004 you dont even need to buy a chip and your xbox is hackable for free!
