Homemade modular light up dance floor!

Dancefloorvideo-712039Brian writes “Although we all know that DMX was totally cool in 1999, his light up dance-floor in the music video Whats My Name was out of this world. The circular dance-floor was comprised of concentric rings that lit up in a chasing pattern. Although the solution was a drastic improvement on the classic Saturday Night Fever dance-floor, it still had room for improvement. That was a lame article with no videos. It’s just an advertisement in disguise.

if you follow to the link to their site, there are videos of it. and it doubles as a huge huge 30fps display. not a huge amount of pixels, but definitely enough for multi-colored dance patterns. the thing is f-ing rgb! and now they sell their homemade control boards and distribute the accompanying software under cc license! i couldn’t believe it when i saw it.

now does THAT sound like an ad or what? if only i could have one…
