How Electricity is Made

ElecThis week’s video on the Manufacturers’ Blog is how electricity is made “…it comes to us courtesy of the good people down at Mississippi Power (part of the Southern Company). It’s a video of their “Plant Daniel”, near Escatawpa, Mississippi. Here you’ll see machines that generate a million kilowatts of electricity, a plant that burns (cleanly) 500,000 pounds of coal per hour, heating water to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit to make energy for all of us to use. In all, this one plant produces 9 billion kilowatt hours of energy per year.” Link.

Kick ass. Thats with a K. I especially like how arcane polluting technology doesn’t seem quite so depressing when set to rock music. And don’t forget to join your local powerplant-workers union!

You’re just flat wrong — sorry. Know that stings a bit, but it’s true. Ever hear of clean coal technology? Oh, wait, you probably don’t believe in coal… or nuclear… or ANWR… or the (420 trillion cubic feet of) natural gas reserves in the Outer Continental Shelf — all recoverable in an environmentally-sound way. This ain’t the 70’s. So what do you believe in, windmills?

Notice the price of energy going up? Supply and demand, my friend.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Let’s go.

Oh — almost forgot — here’s a link with some more facts, if anybody still cares about the facts….:

I truly hope clean coal is the silver bullet you believe it be, at the moment I believe it is in the pilot project stage. I certainly don’t claim to refute the physics of supply and demand only that the money this country spends annually on renewable energy research is a pittance compared with what we spend “securing” fossil fuel reserves elsewhere.

Here is a handy little chart showing Mississippi’s Emissions (Home to the VICTOR J DANIEL JR plant among others) for the year of 2000. Note that graphs for Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxide and Mercury are in the Thousands of Tons.

p.s. I do believe in windmills! Both as an energy source and for running at.

I don’t know…. America not signing the Kyoto treaty… And still going on developing on HAARP which uses a lot of megawatts to their stuff.

For people not believing in HAARP, it is confirmed all over the planet. If one is using the Tesla principles, it is the US government in it fullest extend. Just wait for some more ‘spooky weather’ manipulation coming soon to a place near anywhere the US has (lost) interest.

So…. where does all that current for HAARP comes from???
