Bonnie writes “Do you have a big, bare wall just begging to be decorated? Instead of smothering it in posters, why not take it to the extreme and make your own cartoon mural? You don’t need paint or anything that might take forever to cover up later. Just grab some tape, construction paper and a few other materials to transform a boring wall into a wow-provoking masterpiece!” Link.

What next, how to make funny animal shapes with wheat paste and strips of old newspaper?
I thought Makezine was a source for finding what inovative things people have come up with. I thought Makezine was where one could discover and perhaps be inspired by fellow humans who have done something unexpected or clever to achieve a solution where no obvious solution was to be found. Plastering one’s walls with construction paper cut out to resemble cartoon characters, while perhaps entertaining, certainly falls far far short of being exemplary of the DIY mentality. This is total crap.
seth, if you look at 99% of the posts they’re fairly complex, geeky projects – sometimes i like to put something up that anyone can do. sometimes these simple projects or ideas lead to really interesting things.
SethX9: Seems like you once had a bad experience with a craft project to me. If you look through ALL the items the MAKE Blog posts you’ll see other likeminded crafts on how to make felt stuffed animals and more. Not everything in MAKE is about electronics and gadgets, some of us still like old school creativity that uses glue sticks and construction paper.
Sheesh.
I really love the openmind thing of MAKE. And some of the posts (like the knitting ones) might seem out of my field but you can forward them to somebody else who “might” like such a project.
