Robot Magazine has some details about a pretty cool sounding combat robot event – “Battle Beach, LLC, in partnership with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, is pleased to announce that their next robot combat event, Battle Beach 4, will be held in Summer 2006. This is the Robot Fighting League’s (RFL) Southeast Championships and an RFL National Championship qualifier.” Link. The article also discusses some of the new tech of the combat bots.

Yeah, that’s my old beetleweight you’ve got right there. 3 pounds, with a rotating aluminum, garolite, and titanium shell on top.
I’ve got a little Flickr set going for combat robots, too- any builders that read/comment here are free to add to it:

Another combat robot tourney going on is MechWars, which is located in the Minnapolis MN. It’s taking place May 20-21. The best thing about MechWars is that it has the heaviest robots of any competition, the heavest class is 390 lbs.! But it also goes down to the lowest weight class of 1 lbs. We used to be part of the RFL, but left due to creative differences. I say we because we’re a pretty close knit community, and I know everyone who runs it personally. I have competed in several competitions, both with my beetleweight, and my 390 pounder, Mid-Evil. I plan on competing in the upcoming event. If you’re in the midwest and are interested in this kinda stuff, be sure to check it out.
