Right now as I post my fingers are ice cold on this rainy day here in the Bay Area. Thanks to Rick who’s posted his DIY on Microwaveable Mitten Warmers up on Instructables. Rick says, ” I know it’s a little late in the season for this kind of thing (winter ended just a couple of hours ago), but I’ve just finished whipping up some microwavable mitten warmers. They are handy things for keeping your fingers toasty while cycling, walking, skiing, and such in cold weather.Link.

We (my wife and I) learned during her pregnancy that rice socks can be a great source of warmth. Even if you don’t go to the lengths to make one of these warmers, it’s worth pouring some rice into a clean, old sock to microwave when you need some portable warmth.
