Drew customized his shoes and added a Duncan Yo-Yo panel – not a bad idea, you can get shoes at the thrift store for cheap and do all sorts of neat panels on them. One thing, if you make TRON shoes, please make them light up with EL wire or something, ok? – Link.

To make it show a line rather than a point though I imagine you’d have to shine the laser through a cylindrical lens, something like this.
Hmmmm. This works for power saws where the material being cut isn’t flexible/floppy. But scissors, where the material moves around and bends while cutting? Hmmmmm, again!
Well a good idea … only if you can steady the laser to point in a straight line while cutting … but then you don’t need the laser point at all!

I hate scissors that are just for right-handed people.
This doesn’t appear to be a very effective design. I suppose that the instructions say to hold the paper still and keep the laser pointed at a fixed point (that being the only advantage to having a laser), but if you can do that, you probably don’t need a laser on your scissors. Seems like a waste of a perfectly good laser.
If you want to mack it useful, mount the laser on a cutting board or use a cheap laser picture leveler – or just use a yardstick!
