Biketrired Side

Misterma

Mr. Ma makes these little miniature working bicycles from copper wire and sold them on the streets of Shanghai for over 20 years, this store now sells them and has also has an interview… – “Seventy-four-year-old former electrician Mr. Ma began creating intricate model bicycles out of copper wire after he retired nearly two decades ago. Until now, his unique works of art–which fit in the palm of your hand–were available only on the streets of Shanghai. Mudan Boutique is happy to introduce these distinctive gift items to the rest of the world.

Why bicycles? For Ma, the decision was easy. “China is the kingdom of bicycles,” he said. And the copper wire and plastic tubing were materials he used during his days as an electrician. Ma spends around 10 hours a day making and selling his miniature marvels and his attention to detail is obvious–turning the pedals really makes the rear wheels go around!” [via] – Link & interview with the maker.
