Pedestrian horn

Lrg Blow Pedestrian Blow
This maker from the 50’s took the problem of careless motorists into his own hands, with a giant portable horn. It would be interesting to walk around LA with this now… “Much has been written about careless driving and traffic hazards in Los Angeles, but Hilton Tupman, of that city, has done something about it. Carrying his six-pound pedestrian horn, shown above, he honks his way across streets, warning over-eager motorists that even the lowly foot-traveler has some rights. The tank holds air under pressure of 500 lb. A trigger release under the handle sounds it off, good and loud.”Link.

You can get hand-held airhorns nowadays :)

At first blush, I thought it was a horn he used to honk at other pedestrians who cut him off on the sidewalk!

I could use one of these. Those BMW drivers can’t see pedestrians – even at a crossing. (Or myabe they just don’t care.)

This has come back to life for bicyclists as the AirZound horn

Basically a compressed air horn that you can recharge with your bike pump.
