Armored cars like the one in the picture played an important role in the Israeli independence war 1947-1949. Jerusalem, where I live, was under siege of the Arabs (now palestinians). To supply the Jewish population with water and other basics, there where long caravans of such vehicles with armed soldiers. Often these cars fell into an ambush, which took the lives of many brave men and women. The reason this picture is very familiar to most Israelis is that the shells of those armored cars still decorate the modern highway that leads to our capital. They are left there in memoriam of the brave young men and women who died trying to feed the besieged city.

seriously, without upgrading the vehicles suspension and engine, your just building yourself a nice coffin.

during the Russian revolts the rebels figured out an easy way to destroy “simple” armored vehicles like these. one half empty bottle of vodka, one rag, and an ignition source (a good arm helps too!), and the ‘Molotov’ cocktail was born. it doesn’t destroy it with explosive force, but causes the whole shell to heat up like an oven, disrupting the engine and killing the occupants.

during the Russian invasion of finland the fins figured out an easy way to destroy “simple” armored vehicles like these. one half empty bottle of flammable liquid, one rag, and an ignition source (a good arm helps too!), and the ‘Molotov’ cocktail was born. it doesn’t destroy it with explosive force, but causes the whole shell to heat up like an oven, disrupting the engine and killing the occupants.
