Ok folks, remember Halloween 2006? We had what started out as a small contest – ya know… a costume, gadget, haunted house & jack-o-lantern contest, that is, until thousands of entries came pouring in! It became clear to everyone that Halloween is the holiday for Makers, so we’re doing an entire issue on Halloween this year! DIY HALLOWEEN 2007 is from the editors of MAKE & CRAFT and brings you 40-plus DIY projects for the holiday that’s made for makers. From the craftiest costumes to amazing animated props and the latest in computer-controlled haunted house effects, this special issue will include: headless Marie Antoinette costume, mechanical ghosts and ghouls, LED and laser jack-o’-lanterns, creature makeup and blood-spurting wounds, DIY coffins and tombstones, T. Rex rooftopper, flaming LED skulls, kid-tested haunted house tricks, and a special “Ghoulbox” section with Halloween kits, tools, and gadgets. Plus demonic decorations, hideous party snacks, and profiles of extraordinary makers and their creepy crafts.

If you’re going to Maker Faire, bring your costume and Halloween projects, if you’re working on something amazing now – let us know. Happy Halloween!

Is this going to be an issue of make, an issue of craft or maybe even a two magazine make and craft special? Any idea when it will be out so we can start planning our Halloween projects?

This should be awesome – looking forward to it Phillip. I’m firing up my hack again – the Controllable Halloween Decorations for Celiac Disease again – using three webcams plus X10 powerline control technology so Internet surfers can not only see the display, but also control stuff via the web. Yep, with the click of your mouse, turn thousands of lights on & off … plus inflate/deflate the giant Frankenstein and Homer Simpson – D’OH! ;-)
