Gapminder is an interactive utility for examining world statistics. It’s extremely cool if you’re curious about things like the relationship between income and life expectancy or carbon emissions and internet use. There is a scrubber for adjusting the date, so you can see how the data points have changed over time.
I wonder if internet use per capita will someday be negatively correlated with carbon emissions (ie. people working from home).

Sweet tutorial!! I was wondering if you had any experience with the MOXI set top DVR. Its also manufactured by Motorola. It has 2 USB ports in the front 2 firewire (IEEE 1394) ports in the back and even more USB ports, plus an ethernet port.
As far as I can tell no one has been able to get any system to recognize the MOXI box as new hardware or anything for that matter.
I triple boot windows, ubuntu and backtrack 2.0 on a pretty powerful laptop. I can install a patched Mac OS X partition if I need to or even use my desktop PC, but I am dying here trying to capture recorded video from the MOXI box.

Wow this is great! My cable box is “kinda dead” and I needed a way to get all of the recorded video onto my computer. When I try and run MPEG Streamclip it says I need to buy the MPEG-2 plugin from apple. Did you run into this problem?
