Mmmm, virtual pizza (cutting) –

To demonstrate how much easier it is to use two handed multi-touch interaction instead of traditional interaction, Matthijs created a two handed multi-touch virtual pizza cutting knife for his graduation assignment at Working Tomorrow. umm…
and he got school credit for this?

    yikes.

Wow, did that provided any information or examples of why multitouch is better?

I am waiting for the multi-touch “shoe-tying video”.

Seriously. I figure that $10,000 worth of cutting edge technology might save me some time in the morning when I’m putting my shoes on. I just hope that they get the machinery down to small size before releasing it… my multi-touch back scratcher machine weighs like 200 lbs. It’s so bad that I have actually had to resort to the direct interface: I sort of reach around and use my finger to scratch the itchy part of my back. It’s a bit complicated to describe…

Anyway I am going to publish a DIY on the manual back-scratching technique, and hopefully you’ll see it here in the blog under ‘cutting edge’ manual-touch back scratching technology.

Oh come on… this wasn’t a product, it was a demonstration of using a multi-touch interface to create a non-abstract, real-world tool metaphor. The fact it was a pizza cutter is beside the point; it was goofy, but that goofiness appears deliberate. The second example — the laced strips of paper — was better.
