The KidWind Project is run out of Michael Arquin’s basement in St. Paul, MN, and is all about educating kids about wind power. One part of this is offering really cool wind turbine kits from their website for home assembly and use in science fair presentations.
These kits look like great Geekdad family projects. I can especially imagine combining these with some kind of Lego build for a self-sustaining robot of some kind!

Being the mother of 2 boys, learning about wind power is *not* the first thing that springs to mind when I read the term “KidWind”. :)
As the father of one boy, I leaped on similar mind-springs, but decided not to say anything. But now that YOU mentioned it.

I never liked propeller shaped windmills. It’s a shame so many of them are in use. Conspiracy theory goes Boeing got the contract to make a lot of windmills so they naturally used propellers.
