Monster Island- the Manhattan Zombie Apocalypse an iPod zombie zovel

smzombie.gifJimmy writes in with a great tip and cool iPod zombie ebook. Hey Phillip – I spotted your link to the ipod ebook creator, and I thought I’d send a link to David Wellington’s Monster Island, which is available as an ipod book (here)

We used the ipod ebook creator, but we found that linking notes caused problems for a novel- because if you read ten pages, and then decided to change the music, you actually had to back out of all of those ten pages to get back to the main menu.

As the first original zombie novel published to the Ipod, Dave and I decided to remove the interlinking – that way a reader just uses the clicker to go up one level and to the next chapter – it’s easy enough, once you get used to it, and one nice result is that notes remembers where you were – so if you leave off the linking you’ll have a bookmark of the last chapter (which is important when the novel runs 65 chapters).

Dave’s also been publishing his novels in serial instalments using movabletype at monsternovel.com – he posts chapters 3 times a week, rain or shine, and he’s got a pretty enthusiastic audience for the work. As for as I know this is one of the only novels serialized as blog with an avid readership.
