Noise Toy in a Tea Tin

I assembled my Noise Toy kit knowing that I wanted to put it in some kind of enclosure, so I made sure to break out all the switches with wires. I found an old tea tin in my father’s shop and he helped me mount the circuit inside. We used a piece of wood to mount the circuit board inside and space the audio jack nearer the center of the lid. The two screws mounting the wood piece sort of look like eyes, and the switches on either side sort of look like ears, if you imagine it as a robot. More photos at my Flickr set.

It looks like you relocated the battery. Where is it, and can you still replace it as needed?

That’s true; I broke out the two battery leads to a 2-AA-in-series battery holder (2 AAs in series make 3 volts, just like the included watch battery, but they’ll last longer). It’s in the tin below the board, and I can pull it out to change the battery. I forgot to mention it; thanks for asking!

    sweet!

I wonder . . . if you connected the tin to ground, and wired each switch lead to a screw and then isolated the scews from the enclosure with rubber bushings – touch contact noise toy?

Good idea! I’ll try that on the next one.
