Vicodin earrings

I recently had knee surgery, and afterwards was prescribed Vicodin for pain. It makes me sick, so I had to get something else, and was left with a full bottle with which to make art. First up is these earrings, which I will soon coat in a layer of shellac to prevent crumbling.

Where are you going to wear them. In most places you will get mugged in 20 min.

  2. zof says:

not to mention having prescription pills with out the bottle with the patient information on it is considered illegal possession.

  3. Bob D says:

What? Can you point any of us at a law that says that, anywhere?

  4. Jack Black says:

Vicodin is a Class III controlled substance in the US, and the Federal government regulates its possession. I think you might find yourself on the wrong end of our country’s drug laws, even if unintentional.

  5. Bob D says:

I’m still not convinced that being in possession of a legally prescribed drug, DEA Schedule 3 or not, without a plastic bottle with your name on it somehow makes it illegal.

That being said, this is a generic. What’s the point? Get some nice name brand Valium with the pretty V’s cut out.

  6. Limor says:

    “whats the trouble man?”
“well this white stuff on my ear…is vicodin”

  7. charlie says:

    nice one limor.
and nobody is gonna look close enough and realize what they are… much less a cop. might be a good way to get your bf to nibble on your earlobes. atleast if i was your bf. ;p

  8. TD says:

If a cop stops you for any reason and he spots those hanging from your ears, you will be arrested, your car will be impounded, and you will probably spend a night in jail while your family tries to straighten out the mess. You might even get to experience a body cavity search.

If you’re less lucky, some dope fiend will spot them and you’ll be paying a visit to the emergency room to have your ear lobes sewn back together.

    Is it worth it?

@TD They’re an art object, meant mainly for you to view on the internet, or maybe in a gallery. Don’t worry, I don’t keep the legal prescription bottle too far from them at any point in time. They’re just as harmless now as they were in my medicine cabinet!

  10. Me says:

Just watch out for Dr. House. He’ll rip those things right through your earlobes.

  11. Che says:

Cute, but I do hope you never take these out. In fact, I’d suggest now that you’ve shown your art on the internet, you should flush the pills (all of them) down the toilet. These pills are certainly not harmless if you loose one and some child picks it up and starts chewing on it, even if covered in shellac.

  12. Nepenthe says:

You should never flush drugs down the toilet, many can’t be removed by water treatment plants and will come back in your drinking water.

  13. indrifan says:

You should also wrap them in tinfoil after you shellac them because the Government has special RFID tags in all Schedule III controlled substances and can hear all your conversations. Also space aliens can sing ultrasonically through them and make you do all kinds of stuff.

Seriously, all the dope fiends I hang with have better uses of their time than to chew off people’s earrings, especially for Vicodin. And Nepenthe is right, it’s a bad idea to flush unused prescriptions. The recommendation I’ve heard is to put them in something gross in the trash. I suspect shellac, for example, would work pretty well.

  14. gruff says:

@TD: you are correct sir, that is exactly what happened to a friend of mine in SF last year. Was walking downtown, gave a dollar to a bum, thirty seconds later a cop was arresting him AFTER my friend voluntarily disclosed that he had two vicodin with him but the prescription back at his hotel south of the city. I had to bail him out, and while all the charges were dropped without prejudice — it is NOT a crime to have medication, with our without prescription on you, as long as you have the items legally — he’s still out the bondsman’s fee AND the legal fees.

  15. Justme says:

Is it justme, or does anyone else wonder how exactly this qualifies as art?

  16. Anonymous says:

I think it’s awesome… I have no idea about the laws around this…
but it was a super cute and crafty idea.

    I dig.

I normally wouldn’t comment but some of these comments are so ridiculous I had to interject.

Very creative and cute. I wouldn’t worry at all about these.

These folks are totally over reacting ..
