I love spring with its rain showers, budding trees, and sense of renewal. And while it’s definitely fun to play in the mud, it’s not so fun when that mud enters my car. (Did I mention I have a big, white, fluffy dog?) Great time to revisit Brookelynn Morris’ Custom Seat Covers project from CRAFT Volume 04. The coolest part of this project is that it is truly custom. Brookeylnn begins by walking you step-by-step through measuring your car seats and building your very own pattern. All you need are basic machine-sewing tools, along with some butcher paper:

Once you have the pattern made, you can even get super crafty and make a couple of sets with different fabrics for the different seasons. Warm and fuzzy is always a plus for the colder months, while something more lightweight would be great for the summer. Pimp your ride to show your personal style!
Here is the Custom Seat Covers project in our Digital Edition. And be sure to pick up a back issue of Volume 04 in the Maker Shed to learn how to make macrame curtains, copper buttons, a modern birdhouse, a Carmen Miranda headdress, a pirate costume for your dog, moss graffiti, sourdough bread, a multi-needle felting tool, a hand-carved crochet hook, embossed greeting cards, and more!
