My new favorite book for the holidays is I’m Dreaming of a Green Christmas: Gifts, Decorations, and Recipes that Use Less and Mean More by Anna Getty. The book is full of fantastic recipes (food and drinks), crafts, as well as tips for how to make your holiday season more green and eco-friendly. I love the green gift wrap ideas from wrapping gifts in stockings or antique tins as well as one of my favorites, using old magazines (I always find pages with great photos or cool typography). The recipes in the book look delicious and can be used year round for entertaining. I’m eager to try the Truffled Goat Cheese Macaroni and Cheese – Yum! And for when the holidays are over, there are lots of tips on composting and recycling at the end of the book. Watch the video at the end of this post where author Anna Getty tells you more about her book.
With Christmas Eve and Christmas Day coming up fast, here’s a great drink recipe for Cranberry Prosecco Cocktail which will surely be a hit with your family and friends. Enjoy!
Cranberry Prosecco Cocktail
There simply isn’t a more festive beverage than this pink cocktail. Tart cranberries and Italy’s answer to champagne, prosecco, combine to make a tasty, not-too-sweet party drink.
1 cup frozen cranberries, thawed
1/4 cup sugar
1 bottle (750 milliliters) prosecco, chilled champagne or sparkling wine can be substituted
Place the cranberries and sugar in a bowl and macerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 6 hours. Stir the berries occasionally, lightly mashing them. Place 1 tablespoon of macerated berries in each of six champagne flutes. Fill the flutes with prosecco and serve.
