Bunnie’s blog points out a rather sweet hack by xobs which swaps Chumby’s LCD display for TV output. It requires new firmware + minimal hardware modding – def seems worth it for those looking for bigger display options. Read more in the Chumby wiki.

This and a modulator could give the otherwise useless analog tuners in HDTV’s something useful to do with showing stats for things in the house….

Makes a chumby a hell of a lot more useful IMO.

    Awesome.
Bunnie is a True Maker and deserves a Great Maker Award, in my book.
    Via la Chumby!

I have a beta chumby. Yeah, one of the first versions, same hardware as the rest of them, it just came with different operating software that was updated…
    Well that’s not my point…

Does this work with the original chumby’s (aka Chumby Guts)?

    Thanks!

You don’t have a beta, but the classic Chumby in leather. It uses a different CPU than the current “One” model. It saves cost from the original, adds a volume and FM tuner, and gives more memory and a new CPU.

That being said, the original does not have a composite output.

Kudo’s to Bunnie and his original team of hackers that put the Chumby together! Lets watch it grow into other products soon!
