This Eric Wilhelm’s treadmill desk. He’s the CEO of Instructables, and he walks while he works. I’d like to do something similar, but with a bike!

Is a “treadmill desk” the excuse that the instructables CEO is offering for the abomination of a how-to site instructables.com has become? So much potential, so much hope, please make the next best move instructables…

Its just that there seems to be a lot of buzz lately about these, and there’s some pride-of-place for those of us who made one.

Olivia Judson wrote a column in the NY Times called “Stand Up While You Read This” that covers the ways that sitting down all day will kill you.
Just an addition here. I get tired of standing and walking *all the time*, and sometimes I need to mouse precision that comes from sitting at my desk. So, I have two monitors on my computer, one for the desk and one for the treadmill. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard, so I can just carry them from one venue to the other.

I ran into the same full time / part time issue, not when trying a “treadmill desk” (which I never got around to), but just when trying to work at a standing desk all day. Ended up going w/a GeekDesk last year to get both in one place (sitting + standing). I don’t think I’ll ever go back to regular desk, BUT this has seriously inspired me to maybe go shopping for a lightweight, movable treadmill! : )
