Generate LED display fonts using a simple Python script

Adam Mayer of NYC Resistor is working on restoring a large LED sign, and needed a font to display messages on it. Not finding one that he liked, he whipped up this Microcontroller Pixel Font generator, and had the system up and running in no time! Source code and font image are available at his site.

We met up with Adam this weekend when he was still fixing some bugs in the sign hardware, so it’s exciting to see that it is up and running!

    I ran into this issue once too. I wrote up a Python script using pygame that imports a .ttf font and spits out a list of strings of 1’s and 0’s for LEDs to have on or off.
