Calling all Houston Makers!

We’re excited to announce the first meeting of Make:Hou, a new Make city group based in Houston. The meeting will take place on Thursday, May 6th, at the Kendall Library & Community center. From their flier:

We Welcome Artists, Engineers, Musicians…People who MAKE!

See guest speaker Patrick Hood-Daniel, author of “Build Your Own CNC Machine (Technology in Action)” and creator of the hand made (no fancy power tools) CNC video tutorial.

Meet the fellow makers in our area, find out where to get those odd pieces you need, and learn how to do new things with your old stuff!

Grab the flier here

, or send the organizers an email for more information.

This is great. First Houston gets its very own Hackerspace and now a Make city group! We have such an awesome pool of talent and experience here in Houston, I don’t know why it took so long to get this stuff rolling.

In case you were wondering, the hackerspace is Tx/Rx Labs. Their website can be found here. http://txrxlabs.org

Yeah, isn’t it great? Thanks for the pointer to Tx/Rx Labs, I was not aware of them.

  2. Bob says:

It was really great to meet all the brilliant minds last night. Thanks to Patrick for the demo of his CNC. I can’t wait to get my own running!

    To all the Houston Makers

Due to the kindness and generosity of Keith Ostfeld, we will have the benefit of meeting in the Duncan Family Conference Room at the Children’s Museum (CMH), Thursday, June 3rd, 6:00pm. We have some great activities that you will not want to miss. Keith will introduce us to the museum and give a tour. There will be a SketchUp expert on hand to give an applied demonstration related to the Museum. David Morris will give a late and short introduction to his work and his efforts with 3DCAMP (a bar camp in Houston related to anything physical and virtual in 3D). Oh yeah, don’t forget to bring the stuff you MAKE.
