I feel oddly compelled to try Ali at Gimme Some Oven!’s Red Hot Jello. I don’t usually eat Jello, and those cinnamon red hot candies aren’t really my bag. But combined together, with applesauce? I mean … it’s just an unknown. I have to satiate my urge to experience the taste! And the texture!
Has anyone had this? Ali says it was a childhood treat, but I had never heard of it until I stumbled across this recipe.

I have tried a recipe much like this one, it didn’t have the applesauce. My sister and I featured it on our blog for valentines. I really have never liked red hots, but I am a fan of Jello. My grandmother used to make red applesauce using red hots. I am from the midwest, which seems to be the land of jello (and jello salads) so I am pretty surprised that she didn’t add jello to it. We had jello with dinner several nights a week, as a side dish!
Yes, I’ve had it. We have it every year on Thanksgiving – it is SO good – it’s always a big hit!
