Awesome “Cake” Sculptures From Scott Hove

These “cake” sculptures from artist Scott Hove look almost good enough to eat, but you might break a tooth if you try. They are part of Cakeland, a “series of sculptures and installations resembling perfect delicious cakes– wall mounted, hanging and standing– and walk-through cake environments complete with their own lighting.”

The sculptures are formed using carvable rigid polyurethane foam and plywood. The installations are constructed of cardboard, plywood, and any found object that has a suitable form. They are frosted with a variety of acrylic media, using traditional cake decorating tools, and accessorized with fake fruit and other objects found in stores or on the street.

  1. me says:

I know Hove from way back. Scott was a great 2D painter and mural artist before he met and was invited to collaborate with artist Erik Groff. Since then I’ve watched him take Groff’s original cityscape sculpture installation rooms and labyrinth style as his own just by covering them with “cake icing” Scott’s paintings reflect his true and best artistic identity.
