Hal Chaffee, VP – President Emeritus, Association of Professional Model Makers (APMM), was kind enough to send us links to this keynote address that Neil Gershenfeld delivered at the 2010 APMM Conference, this past spring. As you probably know, Neil is the director of the Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA) at MIT and the author of the seminal 2006 book, FAB.
The keynote provides a good introduction to the work at the Fab Lab program at CBA and where personal fabrication technology is at the moment and what some of its prospects for the future may be. I found the audio difficult to hear at times (lots of ambient noise and clinkin’ and clankin’ of plates and glasses), but worth it if you’re looking for a thumbnail sketch of the subject.
