Steamroller printmaking

Craft & Design

Now here’s something you don’t see every day, printmaking using a steamroller as the press. This took place at the Martha Street Studio Steamroller Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

So… Why don’t we have a steamroller festival in $city_name?

Cool, although technically that’s a road roller (we call them steam rollers here in NZ too though).

I found this where it was done with a real steam powered steamroller: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXC6pdgdqTE

Might have to suggest that to the local transport museum. They do live steam days still.

My buddy does similar printmaking, he built a cool little print making machine and takes it to places and teaches how to make basic prints. The print screen is a flat piece of styrofoam that you draw with a pen, the indentations you make are what doesn’t get printed. Pretty cool, you guys should feature them. They’ve shown a lot of people the process of printing, and are really great guys.
