Book Review + Giveaway: P.S. I Made This…

Craft & Design

Bookheader Psimadethis

P.S. – I Made This… by Erica Domesek is the new book featuring tons of DIY fashion and accessories projects that will literally give your wardrobe an instant boost. Taking inspiration from the fashion runways, pop culture, photography, and design – all the projects are presented visually with simple directions just like Erica has been doing on her very popular P.S. – I Made This web site. This prop stylist brings her styling know-how to all her projects. My favorite is her signature mood board images that is shown before each project. It just great eye candy and ties together the theme. Each project has simple step-by-step photos with arrows and handwritten notes that tell you what to do. Some of the projects are so simple and stylish you could make them in less than an hour and be off on your way all dressed up! Thank you Erica for bringing your amazing taste and style to the DIY world. P.S. Crafters – Get this book!

I am always telling people I made it. I love to make my own things and I really would like this book so I can make more stuff to tell people I made this too.

  2. KizzyMama says:

I love the idea of making my own accessories and clothing. I have made a few things over the years. I’m just beginning to sew now also and I hope to make all my own stuff eventually. This book would help.

  3. Sav O'G says:

I love when people tell me they like something….and my fav part is responding that I MADE IT! What a fun book:) I am always looking for more things to make–perfect book for me;) THANKS for the chance to win!

  4. flowerelena says:

I tend to make really dorky crafts and accessories, and it is time for me to grow-up and make something cool. Thanks.

  5. Angie says:

My pre-teen and teen daughters love making new things to wear. We have so much fun working together to create original pieces.

  6. Sheri says:

I have been knitting and crocheting for a few years and making my own accessories, and starting making jewelry several months ago. I am just beginning to learn how to sew, and have a felting tote for the fall/winter months. I love making stuff and the sky is the limit as I can knit wrap worn at least five different ways, sew a wrap dress, or make a flower necklace. Anything that I can put my personal style and truly call it my own, and inspiration can from anywhere and everywhere.

  7. Summer says:

I would love this book so that I could utilize my crafty skills and tools in order to enjoy fashion. Especially since I can’t really afford to buy clothes/accessories while I’m still in school.

  8. jsahawkwiz says:

  9. caraann says:

I want to win this book because I love to be able to look cute and tell people “i made this!”. I work full time as a home care aide for people suffering from traumatic brain injuries and i also go to nursing school full time. Money doesn’t really factor into my life at this point, so looking cute on a dime is what i’m all about. i browsed through this book at urban outfitters and instantly fell in-love.

  11. deederann says:

Having this book would be wonderful! I love re-purposing and recycling things into fun, crafty, and stylish accessories and clothes! In the past year or so, I’ve been making my own jewelry and hair accessories and the teacher’s at my school love seeing me wear them so much that they buy them or give me random things to re-purpose for them. I love having books around to get new ideas.

  12. Abecedario says:

In addition to learning new jewelry design ideas (I love making my own jewelry!), it also seems like the perfect opportunity to learn new ways to modify clothing… I’ve been loosing weight and have a closet full of clothes that swim on me – they’re just waiting to be re-imagined into something that both fits and looks good (like that ruffled one-shoulder T on her blog!)

  21. sy says:

I read her blog all the time!

  27. Lisa says:

I’m addicted to crafting and repurposing. My interests range from fibers, papers/resin/inks, beads/wire work/metals to woodworking and general DIY. I love to make something special out of every day objects and help others to do they same.
A friend of mine let me page through PS. I made this and I have to have it. It’s not available locally and I really try hard to support brick and mortar stores as much as possible. I’ve been repurposing t-shirts for years and have a t-shirt scarf so I’m dying to try the one in the book. I just love, love, love this book and want to learn more. For me, it will be a “page completer”
    Lisa

  28. Peg Grady says:

Love the blog but being an old broad I’m used to getting my inspiration from books that I can read in bed rather than from the computer screen so I’d love a copy of the book. It will end up dog eared and marked up and well loved/used I’m certain.

  29. kmstoc3 says:

Having just moved out means a tight budget and also means I am working crazy hours so I don’t have time to think. This book would give me inspiration to get crafting again.

  35. susan says:

My thinking exactly. I see it, I love it, I make it! HOWEVER I make myself crazy! Sometimes it’s cheaper to just buy it but NOOOOOOOOOOOO, so I RUN not walk to the craft store and buy everything I may or may not need and then make it!! Would love to see your ideas and the book looks like a lot of fun!!!

  47. Kim O says:

I have this horrible affliction called “bored-with-wardrobe” syndrome that hits once every couple of months. Unfortunately my health insurance doesn’t cover the costs of treatment (shopping spree…), so I really think this book would be the cure-all!!

  48. punk apple says:

I would love to explore some wild styles further, and I think the best (and most economical, and environmental too) would be via things found in Goodwill and other charity stores and then hacking them. But to do that properly one needs good inspiration and some howtos, both of which problems that book seems to resolve comfortably. :)

  49. vfa427 says:

I would love to have this book because I love Erica’s blog and her projects are easy to make, which is good for a beginning crafter like myself. I love her creative view of the world and how she takes everyday objects and makes such fun pieces! It makes me feel like I can do it too!

I would just have a ball with this book.

I tried to look at the book on the publisher’s site but it’s *not found.* So I need to win this book to make up for that. :-)
On a serious note, I’m so excited to be taking the time to make garments for myself, and so proud when I get to wear them and hear the shocked “you made that?!” responses from my co-workers. I can’t wait to discover more of Erica Domesek’s inspirational ideas and turn my ordinary sewing extraordinary.

I’d love to win this! My post-maternity wardrobe *definitely* needs a boost.

  67. Rebekah Whittles says:

I really hope to win this book because I have

It looks like such a good book with such a great author!
    Thanks for this opportunity!

  68. Tamarahallock says:

I love Erika’s website and have completed some of her projects. I love the neat and easy way she shows “HOW-TO”. I get to say “P.S., I Made This” about all of my own projects and my son is always saying, “Mama made it”. I really admire Erika, and I wanna be just like her.
I am drooling over her book and if I don’t win I will have to scrounge the money up to get it.
