In response to the vibrating conveyor belt post, Ranjit Bhatnagar let us know about the sketching device #1 that he built back in 2002. It’s a 2d drawing robot that works on a similar principle to the conveyor belt, except in two dimensions and with finer control. Constructed from some foam, acrylic, Teflon, and a pair of old speakers, the machine is able to move a pen around a 2d surface by actuating the speakers in a specific manner. Very cool!
