We’re getting a nice response from makers who are excited about the upcoming DIY Space issue of MAKE and who want to share their space projects with us. David Prutchi (Voorhees, NJ) writes:

We are looking forward to the upcoming issue of MAKE. My daughter Shanni (now 15) and I are avid science buffs, and have a home ground station to operate Oscars, the ISS (we received a QSL from Flight Engineer Mikhail Turyn for contact while he was on ISS expedition 14), and amateur radio-astronomy. Shanni was invited to present a paper a few years ago regarding her project on the subject. A copy of the paper is available here. Our web page is quite outdated, but it shows some of the crazy stuff that we do at home: www.prutchi.com.

The site may be outdated, and have a number of broken links, but we love seeing sites like this, of parents and kids doing cool projects together and sharing their results with the rest of us. Looking over this, I can only imagine the amazing home education that Shanni has had and the adventures she and David have gone on together. Even their dog, Neurton, gets in on the action. (David Prutchi does biomedical R&D and designs medical devices.)
