So, are you ready? We’re not really ready. We’re in denial. And seeing that a lot of sites started running their holiday gift guides before the wicks on the Halloween pumpkins had even cooled, only made us want to dive deeper into denial. But don’t get us wrong, we’re not Scrooges or anything. We like giving presents to our loved ones, and getting them in return. We’d just rather not lose our heads over the whole business and we at least try to be thoughtful consumers. As makers, we like to give presents that are made by hand, or tools that will enable the recipients to make things themselves, or gifts made or sold by small maker businesses. And OK, sometimes we break down and flash the plastic over dumb “gag gifts” and frivolous toys. Hey, we’re only human.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be running a series of MAKE-friendly gift guides, covering everything from coveted tools and equipment to the best in science and tech educational gifts to awesome toys for all the geekly girls n’ boys (of all ages).

And, we also want to publish a gift guide written by YOU. What do you want this year? What’s on your holiday list? Tell us in the Comments section below. Be specific, with item, description, price, and URL. We’ll gather together our favorites into a MAKE Readers Gift Guide. And we’ll choose three of the contributors and send them each a copy of our new Make: Ultimate Workshop and Tool Guide 2011. So, climb up here on Santa’s lap and tell him what you want. OK, scratch Santa’s lap, that’s just creepy. Tell us what your gift desires are in the Comments below.
