Can’t wait to see this episode. A nice way to cap off our month of Electronics Skill Set content.

    1. Matt Richardson says:

I can’t wait either! I have a lot to learn about soldering properly! Now that I have my nice new fancy soldering iron, I’m ready to learn!

        What did you get?

        1. Matt Richardson says:

A Hakko 936. Compared to my old generic cheap iron, this one makes it incredibly easy to make good solder joints.

          1. James F. Kelly says:

That’s the exact same iron that was recommended to me by ACK Electronics here in Atlanta – I have to wait for my birthday in April, but I could really use it today.

          2. Matt Richardson says:

You’ll love it for sure, James. It’ll be well worth the wait. I hope you’ll tune in for Make: Live next week.

It would be great to upgrade my $5 (or less, i got it on sale for $3) harborfreight iron… but at least they’re so cheap that if I break one I can get a new one easy. Its better than using a not-so-greatly rated “The Source” iron… I do wish it had a finer tip though.. i think i know what to ask for my b-day- that or electronics giftcards..
