Providence, RI Startup Accelerator Betaspring Opens Physical Tech Track

Betaspring is a mentorship-driven startup accelerator in Providence RI. They focus on technology and design entrepreneurs who are ready to start a company, launch a product, and do cool things for the world. They just announced their physical technology track, but applications close at the end of this week. So if you have a great idea for a product and a company that will change the world, maybe these guys can help you make it a reality!

You could say that we are excited about technologies that you can see and touch, especially when they are connected to the digital world as well. In the past two years, Betaspring has been working with physical technology companies, ranging from toys to niche industrial applications, from sensors to consumer medical devices. Several of our most promising startups are PhysTech companies, including NuLabel, GreenGoose [pictured above], and Diavibe.

Our home base, Providence, does physical tech quite well, with a thriving industrial design community, a talent base of designers and engineers at RISD and Brown, and a nationally recognized maker movement (AS220 Labs, the Steelyard). Plus, its New England. People make stuff here.

So we’ll take up to 10 physical tech companies this summer, in addition to the up to 10 web+mobile. The application process is the same, though you’ll indicate which program you are applying for. We are looking for startups with physical technologies that can scale (in the focus areas listed above), as well as web-enabled mass customization platforms and scalable prototyping/advanced manufacturing plays that enable all this tangible goodness.
