Infinite Variety Quilt Show

After reading several takes on the “Infinite Variety” quilt show this past week, I’m curious if any of our readers in NYC had a chance to attend the showing? More than 650 quilts – pretty impressive.

I was at the exhibit in NYC. [Traveled from Penn State / Central Pennsylvania to view.] The quilts were beautiful. It was a wonderful 80th birthday gift. However, overall, I was disappointed.
It was a nice exhibit, but it would have been nicer to get closer to some of the quilts. The quilts 40+ feet in the air didn’t allow the true enthusiasts to view them well. :(
Unfortunately, there were too many people who didn’t understand NOT to touch the quilts. Their age and condition are proof that they were well cared for, and there were people who were eating, and then touching the quilts. :( It was a shame.

I went and I loved it! I’ve started a little series on it on my blog.

I went and loved it! It was my first time to the Park Ave Armory and I’m absolutely charmed by the building (the biggest unobstructed hall in NYC!) I’m also happy with the arrangement of the quilts; from the hall’s entrance, they look like they were floating in thin air. I do understand though, that some people more enthusiastic than me about quilts would want to have a closer look. I’m mostly excited about the geometric design. One cool thing is if you have an iphone or an android device, you can download their free app and view each design at your own leisure.
