Etienne Cliquet’s Floating, Moving Origami

French artist Etienne Cliquet has developed a beautiful form of micro origami with a mesmerizing twist. After precisely cutting and folding a small square of paper (using tweezers, mind you), he then carefully places the resulting sculpture on the surface of water. As capillary action pulls moisture through the paper, the tiny sculpture appears to blossom as it unfolds. This video shows several pieces from his series “Flotilla” as they morph.
