I went to the 534 Third Avenue (36th St.) store and they told me they have never heard of the Maker Faire… Any idea?

This doesn’t seem to be well supported by Radio Shack. I just went to the one on Queens Blvd at 45th, here in Sunnyside, and the staff had never heard of it. I patiently explained, and insisted that corporate’s list/map said they had it, so they called their manager. He immediately said that they did, and told the guy where to find the book of tickets. It was on a shelf in the back room. It took another 10 min or so for them to find the SKU so they could actually ring them up.

According to the paper in the binder of tickets, all participating stores are supposed to have in-store visuals marketing it. Clearly, that hasn’t happening.

Somewhat of a major fail, but I can tell you for sure that the Sunnyside store has TONS of tickets, since I bought the first two they’d sold just this afternoon!

Hey Andy, thanks for taking the time to share this with us.

Like any large retail chain/franchise, support and understanding varies at different locations, and even amongst staff at any given store. Some Shacks are really into it, have post cards on the counter, posters in the window, and staffmembers who are excited and are bringing their families to the event. Some employees, as you discovered, don’t even seem to know about the Fairet. We, and RadioShack, are doing what we can to get the word out to these stores and their personnel. Sorry you got someone who didn’t know what was going on and it took longer than normal. The good news here is that you got your tickets and that store now knows the drill. See you at the Faire!
