We do the same project in our book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Electronics 101. It is a great project to learn assembly skills and a useful thing to have for future experiments. The Jameco kits are great for beginners as they include great instructions but they aren’t toys either. Thanks for the video!

Marvelous Collin video as usual. Instructive, entertaining, …and one hardly notices the adverts. That’s the way to do it.
Now another Jeri vid? Bill Hammack?… or has he gone completely ‘indy’?Just a silly notion: show us how to use Xbees (with/without arduino) Collin or Jeri.
Does anyone know what brand soldering iron he uses? I like that curved tip; it makes it easier to see what you’re doing. I’ve briefly looked around, and I can’t seem to find anything like it.
hmm – try searching for an “angled” tip
Well….I look pretty stupid…….
nah – happens to the best of us

I use a Metcal MX500 – but you should be able to find angled tips for most soldering irons.
I was wondering about this, too. Thanks for the reply, Collin.
Also, is there any place we can buy/download the music you use in your videos?
thnx – I’ll check in on that thread.
I plan on publishing the soundtracks in one form or another – definitely on my to-do list!
Hey Collin, just to inform you that there are a bunch of unanswered questions on your LED color organ thread and a lot of people are confused or lost. Help would be appreciated. :)
Another great video! I’ve been working with power supplies lately and this helps out. Do you think you’ll make a vid about switched power supplies, or do you know of a good place to get info for them?
How about that soldering helping ´stand/hand/thing´ (2:10 min) where to buy it??
