The amount of great photography in the MAKE Flickr pool keeps increasing, and our old seven-picture vertical format is feeling the strain. So this week, we’re trying something new! Click the link below to check out our new gallery-style format. And please let us know what you think.

looks good/better. √
I’m usually reading the RSS feed and now no images show up at all. Could you maybe keep the vertical format for the feed?
Can’t find an easy way to get to the original image on Flickr.
Seconding Jonas – I’d like to be able to see the images in the RSS feed.
i like this way better. it feels more visually pleasing. the other way it seemed like it was wasting space on the right side of the page
I’m sure it looks great however I exclusively view the site through my android phone which doesn’t display your new format. Perhaps having the vertical style for mobile viewing available to those of us enjoying Make on the go
The new format seems to have a dramatically lower click-through rate than the old layout (or my photo this week is much less interesting). Previous weekly roundups have generated over 1K views according to flickr’s stats; this one is only at 20 so far today.
These images don’t link back to the original Flickr address. It’s nearly impossible to get to the original image without going through the entire MAKE Flickr pool.
You’re right — clicking on the image brings up the makezine gallery viewer. If you click on the text of the image name, however, it does go straight to the flickr image page. That probably explains the lower number of hits on the flickr site.
Late to the party, but yeah, I kinda hate it. Images don’t show up in the RSS feed, and getting to the original images is a pain.
[…] to everyone for the helpful and constructive feedback on last week’s Flickr pool roundup. We asked, you answered, we listened: We’re sticking with the old format. […]
