Announcing Project Remake!

Calling all remakers, upcyclers, found object artists, and refuse miracle makers! MAKE has teamed up with Schick, and today we’re launching the Project Remake Contest. We’re in search of the next great green maker. No fewer than FIVE winners will receive a MakerBot Replicator, and a Grand Prize winner will receive (in addition to a Replicator) an expenses-paid trip for two (and their winning project!) to World Maker Faire in New York City this September. So whether you de-solder legacy motherboards for their reusable components, build furniture out of reclaimed plastics, or fabricate sculpture from waste objects, go here to enter to win Project Remake!

Submissions will be open until May 14th. Projects may be functional, utilitarian, or simply beautiful. Projects will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Originality & Creativity
  • Eco-Friendliness
  • Feasibility
  • Media & Public Interest

Apologies to our international and fellow North American readers, but to be eligible to win, you must be a legal resident of one of the 50 US states or the District of Columbia, and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Complete rules can be found online here.

I keep typing in my DOB and it keeps disappearing after I click anything else including the submit button.

  2. Jacob says:

Nevermind. I didn’t realize I had to specify the year to four digits. I typed 92 instead of 1992.

Sorry for the bug Jacob – I’ll see if we can’t get that looked at, and good luck!

Requiring 4 digits for the year is a feature not a bug. ;)

Is MAKE going to have Canadian contests soon? :)

    1. Nick Normal says:

Keep making RobotGrrl – we love your work! I’ll mention this to our team. Also, I’ll gladly trade you some America-bots for health care!

Any idea when there’s going to be an update? “check back on 05/30/12” became “vote soon on the top 5” for quite some time now. The facebook page still says ‘Check back next week’ and it’s been ‘next week’ for four days now.
    I’m dying here. ^_^
