Nerdy Derby: Race in Peace

John Abella uploaded this awesome Nerdy Derby coffin car to Thingiverse. Aptly named “Race in Peace,” John’s racer kicks off halloween season at Maker Faire New York at the end of the month. He says, “it’ll be super slow unless you fill it with something heavy—but sometimes it’s not about winning, it’s about rolling in crushed-velvet style.” I couldn’t agree more.

This is a great design! Pinewood derby rules explicitly forbid the inclusion of mercury in a car. I imagine you could print a cavity inside that to house a loaded test tube that you insert during the printing process, or you could just print a channel for a good sized ball bearing to roll in.
