Ft. Worth Makers Gather, Organize

On Wednesday night, Ft. Worth, TX makers gathered together to discuss creating a local makerspace. MAKE’s Maker-in-Chief Sherry Huss happened to be in town, thanks to an unrelated business summit, and an impromptu meetup was organized at the Woodshed Smokehouse, with seven local makers able to attend. Lo and behold, the Fort Worth Makerspace website popped up as a result and the ball is now rolling!

Fort Worth is on the forefront as a technological leader, with major aerospace and electronic companies, and yet we don’t have a community presence to embrace that ingenuity and the creativity behind it. By coming together to collaborate on ideas, information and knowledge, we can become a leader in the maker movement. Our idea is not to become pigeon holed into narrow interests, but instead, we want to embrace all the creative energy that individuals hold here. It doesn’t matter what race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or age you are; we welcome all to the maker movement.

If you’re interested in participating, check out the nascent group’s website and find out how to participate!

Opps, I found a typo “It doesn’t not matter” but I corrected on the site to “It does not matter”.

I’m glad Fort Worth is finally getting a MakerSpace! This is going to be fun!

  3. Gareth Branwyn says:

Dan, fixed the typo and I took the liberty of smoothing out some of the bumps in your quotes. Hope that’s OK. I think it scans better now.
