Ironman Mark VI Built from Makedo and Cardboard

This full-size Ironman was made by Yihung Kuo. It’s made almost entirely from cardboard and Makedo building fasteners.

The idea of making an Ironman came from my 3 kids… I wanted to make them a toy suit for role-play and Halloween, but ended up making a model my own size.  In any case, they had fun during the month long period I spent making the model. If it were not for the daily “Daddy, where is the Ironman?” I wouldn’t have been able to finish it!

The goal of this project was to use 100% Makedo, nothing else, to make an Ironman robot (not suit) out of 100% cardboard (with exception of the electronic parts).

As someone who’s spent a great deal of time making things from cardboard, I’m thoroughly impressed! I love how he skipped the usual “sketching” stage of the design process and just started building. You can find complete instructions on how Yihung made this life size creation over at instructables.

Wondering where to get Makedo? You can find it right here in the Maker Shed!

I am the Evangelist for the Maker Shed. It seems that there is no limit to my making interests. I'm a tinkerer at heart and have a passion for solving problems and figuring out how things work. When not working for Make I can be found falling off my unicycle, running in adverse weather conditions, skiing down the nearest hill, restoring vintage motorcycles, or working on my car.
