Homemade Wooden Scroll Saw is both Beautiful and Functional

Japanese maker Mikiono built this homemade scroll saw almost entirely from wood with proportionately few metal fasteners and mechanical components. Running off a 0.2kW three-phase motor, the first thing you’ll notice when the machine kicks on is the distinct noise it makes, with the wood absorbing a large amount of the machine’s vibrations. Mikiono notes the machine’s resonant frequency is right around the 20Hz range, which you can clearly see in the video below. Additional pictures can be found here at Woodgears.
